Gerrit Davids: Speaker

Topic: ESG Procurement Policy Development

Gerrit's focus area on ESG explores both the challenges and the role that procurement decision-makers can play in advancing a company’s ESG goals, particularly when guided by clear, sustainable policies.

By managing Scope 1–3 emissions, promoting lower-impact supply chain options, and partnering with responsible, certified suppliers, companies can reduce their environmental footprint.

Social value is enhanced through ethical supplier practices, employee wellbeing initiatives, and support for local economies.

Governance is strengthened by embedding ESG criteria into procurement policies, requiring emissions tracking, and engaging suppliers in sustainable practices.

Takeaways from the presentation:
The audience will learn what the different scopes of emissions are that they could manage, i.e., Scope 1, 2 and 3 Emissions during procurement.

Secondly, they would learn how to initiate a consultative process for future ESG procurement.

Thirdly, they will get to know the process they could follow in their organisations on how to develop and adopt policies to implement ESG in procurement.
